Circle, Square, Triangle Puzzles
How to use it
- Start with the circle puzzle (art development suggests that this is one of the first shapes your child will master), allow your child to explore the circle and the base separately
- Encourage your child to fit the circle into the base. You can tap the base and say “put it here” to help guide them
- allow your child to do this themselves encouraging their independence and self confidence
- Next, encourage your child to fit the square into the base of the square puzzle (offer your child one shape at a time so that they do not become overwhelmed and give up)
- Celebrate with your child and offer encouragement at every step from using their fine motor skills, to picking up each shape, to mastering the puzzle
Research
1 year to 3 years
These puzzles are great for developing cognitive skills such as problem solving and fine motor precision. Your child can now sit by themselves and maybe even walk. They are exploring the world around them and copying everything you do. The circle, triangle, and square puzzles are simple ways your child can explore shapes and how they fit together.
